MC4082
Cinema Screen Loudspeaker System
Bi-amplified four-way screen-channel system pairing a dual 12-inch LF module with an 8-inch coaxial mid/high module and six ribbon super-tweeters.
Behind-screen main channels · Small to medium commercial auditoriums · Dubbing rooms
Features
- Coaxial 8″ mid and 2″ HF share one acoustic axis — aligned sources support stable dialogue imaging
- Six ribbon super-tweeters with integrated, ultra-light diaphragm-and-coil construction extend response to 20 kHz
- Dual 12-inch bass-reflex LF module; 42 Hz–25 kHz (±3 dB) system response
- 300 Hz LR24 active crossover, bi-amplified: LF and mid/high modules on separate amplifier channels
- Mid/high module stacks atop the LF enclosure — both 410 mm wide, forming one flush two-module array that recesses easily into the wall, for screen-frame mounting
- 18 kg, 302 mm-deep mid/high module for staged handling behind the screen
Overview
The MC4082 is a bi-amplified, four-way screen-channel loudspeaker system combining a dual 12″ bass-reflex LF module with a mid/high module (8″ coaxial midrange, 2″ HF, and six ribbon super-tweeters). It delivers 42 Hz–25 kHz (±3 dB) response with 90° × 45° nominal coverage for behind-screen main channels in small-to-medium auditoria, screening rooms and dubbing stages.
A 300 Hz LR24 active crossover splits the LF and mid/high sections, each driven by its own amplifier channel; internal passive crossovers at 1.8 kHz and 4.0 kHz integrate the coaxial mid, HF and ribbon UHF bands within the mid/high module. The 8″ coaxial mid and 2″ HF share one acoustic axis, so their sources are coincident, while the six ribbon super-tweeters employ an integrated ultra-light diaphragm-and-coil construction for the top octave. The mid/high module stacks directly on the LF enclosure to form a compact two-module array; at 18 kg and 302 mm deep, it allows staged handling and positioning in confined screen-wall spaces, with screen-frame mounting. Both modules are 410 mm wide, so the stacked array is flush and recesses easily into a wall opening; in dubbing stages and acoustically demanding auditoria, this three-way layout — low, mid and high each handled by a dedicated driver — is especially well suited.

Frequency response

Dimensions

- 1Low-frequency response and sensitivity specifications are referenced to half-space (2π) conditions, representative of typical cinema baffle-wall installation. Frequency-response graphs are measured in an anechoic free-field (4π) environment unless otherwise noted. In the low-frequency region the same loudspeaker measures about 6 dB higher under 2π than under 4π (in practice 3–6 dB depending on frequency and baffle conditions); this is a difference of measurement convention, not of performance.
- 2Rating based on an IEC filtered random-noise test signal, band-limited 50 Hz–20 kHz, with a peak-to-average ratio of 6 dB
- 3Recommended amplifier output at the applicable impedance should not exceed the program power, giving an unclipped output waveform while avoiding loudspeaker damage; an amplifier capable of at least the RMS continuous power (AES 100 h) is recommended to realize full loudspeaker performance. The actual amplifier match should be determined by calculation for the listening distance (see note 1).
- 4Calculated maximum SPL is derived from the rated (continuous) power and half-space (2π) sensitivity and is a calculated, not measured, figure; at a 6 dB peak-to-average ratio it exceeds the rated value by 6 dB, representing short-term peak capability rather than a level the system can sustain.
- 5The frequency-response graphs on this page are measured on-axis at 1 W/1 m in an anechoic free-field (4π) environment with 1/6-octave smoothing; the frequency response and sensitivity in the specification table are stated under half-space (2π) conditions. Lower readings in the low-frequency region of the graph therefore reflect the difference in convention rather than a difference in performance. 2π-format curves are available on request.
