Two-way vs. three-way

The vocal no longer rides on the kick.

A compact two-way plays the kick and the vocal through one small woofer. MiniMax3 gives the voice its own 3″ midrange, so each part of the mix stays distinct.

Patented ISP™ coaxial

Set the presence. Sit back. It’s gone.
Stop mixing with your head in a vise.

With separate drivers, the 3.6 kHz region shifts every time you move, right where vocal presence lives. ISP puts both drivers at one point, so it stays put.

3.5″ carbon woofer

Kick and bass shouldn’t blur together.
Not even on a 3.5″ woofer.

Keeping the kick and the bass apart takes control, not just depth. So the low end gets its own dedicated 3.5″ woofer that never plays the vocal, built part by part for one job: the magnet, the motor and the coil, plus a passive radiator.

The 3.35-inch (85 mm) magnet of the MiniMax3 woofer

01 · 3.35″ magnet on a 3.5″ woofer

The kick ends when the track says so.

A denser field in the gap gives the voice coil a firmer grip. It starts the cone on the hit and brakes it on the release, so the tail you hear is the tail you mixed.

02 · SOVOX HLMS™ · two rings in the gap

Louder doesn’t mean dirtier.

Turn a small woofer up and two things go wrong: it adds harmonics you never put in the mix, and it starts squashing the peaks. SOVOX HLMS™ tackles both in the gap: a copper Faraday ring keeps the push even, and a demodulation ring keeps the field steady under current.

The six-layer voice coil of the MiniMax3 woofer

03 · Six-layer voice coil

The last mix of the night sounds like the first.

As a voice coil heats up, it quietly loses level, and you start pushing the fader to make up for it. A custom six-layer coil puts more copper in the gap to take that heat, so the woofer stays where you set it.

The 3.5 × 6.3-inch passive radiator of the MiniMax3

04 · 3.5″ × 6.3″ passive radiator

Nothing chuffs on the drop.

On a ported speaker, part of the low end you hear is the port itself: air noise on loud notes, and a tone from the tube. MiniMax3 has no port. A 3.5″ × 6.3″ passive radiator takes the bass down to 46 Hz (−6 dB), so what you hear is the woofer, not the tube.

DSP room adaptation

Your desk is part of the speaker.
Tell MiniMax3 where it sits.

A desk under a speaker, or a wall behind it, adds bass that isn’t in your mix. Choose Free, Desk, Wall or Desk & Wall, and the DSP evens that boost back out. Then trim treble and bass to match your room, not to flatter it.

Frequently asked questions

What warranty does the MiniMax3 Monitor come with?

The MINIMAX series includes a 1-year standard warranty covering material and workmanship defects under normal use, plus an optional +3-year extended warranty available through product registration. Register the product with a valid proof of purchase; the extended period is added after the standard warranty expires. For a claim, contact customerservice@sovox.com with your serial number and proof of purchase.

Can I return the MiniMax3 Monitor if it does not work on my desk?

You can return your SOVOX product within 30 days of receiving it for a full refund, provided it was purchased from the SOVOX Official Store or an authorized dealer and is returned in its original packaging in new or near-new condition. Email customerservice@sovox.com to request an RMA number; once issued, the product must reach us within 14 calendar days. Shipping cost and transit risk for returns are borne by the customer.

Where does the MiniMax3 Monitor ship from, and who handles support?

Ships from within the U.S. Support, RMA numbers and warranty claims are handled directly by SOVOX at customerservice@sovox.com — there is no third-party distributor in between.

How is a 3-way coaxial speaker different from a 2-way speaker of the same size?

A 2-way speaker crosses over from woofer to tweeter around 2-3 kHz, in the region where the ear is most sensitive to timing and directivity errors. The MiniMax3 Monitor crosses at 240 Hz and 3.6 kHz, so a dedicated 3″ carbon fibre midrange covers the vocal band without also moving air for the low end. Mounting the 1″ silk dome tweeter on the same axis as that midrange makes the pair behave closer to a single point source, which keeps the response consistent as you move vertically at a desk.

How much desk width does the MiniMax3 Monitor need?

Each speaker is 108 mm wide, 192 mm high and 199 mm deep, so a stereo pair occupies 216 mm of total width before any gap to a display or wall. Net weight is 4.1 kg per speaker, which keeps it within the range of most desk clamps and monitor arms.

Do I need an audio interface to use the MiniMax3 Monitor?

No. It accepts balanced XLR at +4 dBu and unbalanced RCA at −10 dBV, so it connects directly to an audio interface, a mixer, or a consumer source with RCA outputs. The rear USB-C port is for firmware updates only and is not an audio input.
