Applications

Small auditoriums with limited space · 5.1 channel drive · Screen channels and surrounds · Subwoofers (LFE)

01

Features

  • Five full-range channels of equal output plus a higher-power sixth channel for low frequency, matching how power is actually distributed across a 5.1 layout.
  • One amplifier completes the whole 5.1 drive — no separate units for surrounds and low frequency, so it takes up less rack space.
  • Full-range and low-frequency channels share the same amplification platform and protection design for consistent commissioning and maintenance.
  • Large filter reservoir with intelligent temperature-controlled fan cooling and independent cooling paths for the full-range and low-frequency channels.
  • XLR male inputs and speakON outputs; short-circuit, no-load, power on/off noise and RF interference protection circuits.
  • 220 V supply; uniform 2U (88 mm) rack height.
  • Analog design with a toroidal transformer for longer service life and greater stability, balancing performance and cost.

Overview

The AP2108 / AP5116 are two power levels on one amplification platform in Class H, intended for small auditoriums where space is limited. Each unit provides six channels: five full-range channels of equal output plus a higher-power sixth channel for low frequency, so a complete 5.1 drive is built from one amplifier and matches how power is distributed across a 5.1 layout.

One amplifier completes the whole 5.1 drive, with no separate units for surrounds and low frequency, so it takes up less rack space. Either power level can be selected directly against the auditorium’s channel count and the loudspeakers’ nominal impedance and power rating.

Specification notes
  1. 1Output power figures are continuous (RMS) outputs at the stated impedance. An amplifier’s continuous output should be at least the AES 100-hour rating of the loudspeaker it drives, and its output at the matching impedance should not exceed the loudspeaker’s program power, to avoid clipping and driver damage (see the relevant loudspeaker specification sheet).
  2. 2THD, signal-to-noise ratio and damping factor are measured under the manufacturer’s test conditions; readings taken under different conventions are not directly comparable. Figures shown without a model split are common to both models.
  3. 3Full-range and low-frequency channel outputs are rated separately. Multi-channel models offer neither bridged nor parallel mode; for higher output on a single channel, select a two-channel model and bridge it. Rack installation must leave the front and rear airflow paths clear, and the temperature rise inside the rack must stay within the equipment’s permitted ambient range (operating temperature 0–50 °C).
  4. 4⚠️ Parameters on this page are taken from the R&D-revised specification workbook. Where a later R&D revision differs, the latest revision prevails.
